Description


CASA of the Bluegrass is a 501C non-profit that recruits, screens, trains and supervises community members to become Court-Appointed Special Advocates for children that have been abused, neglected or dependent. Our service area is Anderson, Boyle, Franklin and Mercer counties.


CASA of the Bluegrass is accepting resumes for the full-time Volunteer Coordinator position. The candidate must be 21 years of age, pass all required background checks, and have reliable transportation. Bachelor of Arts in Social Work or related field preferred. Experience in the child welfare system, court system and/or supervisor of volunteers preferred. Excellent professional communication skills. Experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Prior experience in the administration of volunteers, non-profit, or public agency management preferred. Candidate must also interact with individuals of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and educational backgrounds; maintain confidential information and records; provide quality case management and supervision of volunteers; and engage in public speaking and other public awareness activities on behalf of the organization. This is a grant-funded position.


A flexible schedule includes regular office hours and some evening and weekend work. Must have daily transportation to attend meetings, court, facilitate home visits and represent CASA at other functions.


CASA offers a generous PTO policy, holiday pay, mileage reimbursement, and FSA.


The position is responsible for organizing, facilitating and attending training for volunteers, assigning cases to CASA volunteers, sharing the responsibility of Family Court coverage and duties, supervising, consulting and assisting CASA’s in preparation of cases for court including assessing the need for legal and social services for children. Assuring that reports prepared by CASA volunteers are reviewed, typed, reproduced, and delivered (within the prescribed time) to all relevant parties.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the program in recruiting new CASA Volunteers
  • Coordination of CASA Volunteers
  • Plan and execute CASA continuing education training with the collaboration of the staff
  • Share the responsibility of Family Court coverage
  • Maintain working relationships with related individuals, agencies, and community professionals
  • Follow terms of reporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Collaborate with other staff to recruit new CASA Volunteers - includes but is not limited to: speaking at civic groups, churches, radio, newspaper, social media, etc.
  • Develop and maintain community engagement initiatives that include but are not limited to: social media, blog, press releases, and scheduling of programming.
  • Any other duties as assigned

Applicant MUST:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid drivers license 
  • Reliable transportation
  • Pass background check
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, with strong communication and organizational skills
